About Tic-Tac-Toe

Tic-tac-toe, noughts and crosses, or Xs and Os is a paper-and-pencil game for two players who take turns marking the spaces in a three-by-three grid with X or O.

What’s the Objective of the Game ?

The objective of the game is to win by getting 3 of your marks (either X or O) in a straight line.

The straight line can run diagonally, vertically, or horizontally.

Rules of the Game

• When playing Tic-Tac-Toe, there are several simple and easy-to-follow rules that you should observe. The rules that you need to be aware of include the following:
• Players must select their mark before the game starts (either X or O) and must play the entire game using the same mark.
• Players must take turns, making only 1 mark with each turn.
• Marks can only be placed in empty squares, and once it is placed, it is permanent.
• The winner is the first player to get 3 of their marks in a straight line (the line can be positioned diagonally, vertically, or horizontally).
• The game is over when all 9 squares are filled with marks, even if none of the players have a straight line of 3 marks.
• If neither player has a straight line of 3 marks, it is considered a tie.

Rules of the Game

• Start from a Corner – Begin with a corner move to open up multiple winning paths.
• Take the Center – If the opponent starts first, take the center to control the board.
• Create a Fork – Set up two possible winning moves to force your opponent into a trap.
• Block Smartly – Always watch for your opponent’s two-in-a-row and block immediately.
• Think Ahead – Plan your next two moves instead of just reacting.
• Avoid Edges – Side positions offer fewer winning chances compared to corners and center.
• Force the Game – Make moves that compel your opponent to defend instead of attack.
• Play for a Draw – When a win isn’t possible, aim to block and secure a tie.
